After completing my bar in school I had a week left of the semester so I decided to play around with scrap metal. I started by searching the bone yard from the horizontal bandsaw for remnants and gathered shavings from the laths and whatever sheet metal that was around and low and behold two trees and a snowman sitting around a campfire was born! The process opened my eyes up to let go of perfection and take chances with my art. I always save my scraps after plasma cutting and look at shapes that come alive in the remnant of my sheet metal. So many time crazy shapes are created and used in artwork. |
